HM270 duct fabric acceptance: specifications, SGS report and test checklist
For an HM270 order, match the specification, approved sample and test reports. The grey catalog specification is 300 g/m²; the available SGS burning-test record concerns a black 324 g/m², 0.50 mm specimen. Confirm material identity before agreeing on tests and acceptance conditions.
Define the evidence needed for this HM270 order
HM270 flame-retardant 600D Oxford fabric has a finished usable width of 1.48 m and can be slit to customer requirements. Slit-roll lengths are generally 100–120 m. Record the agreed slit width, roll length, quantity and tolerances in the order.
List colour, mass per square metre, usable or slit width, roll length and quantity. Specify thickness separately when required. Distinguish catalog nominal values, agreed order values and measured results. Agree the target mass for the customer’s requirements, with a tolerance of ±10 g/m². Agree slit-width tolerances, sampling quantities and decision rules separately.
The available burning-test record supports review of the tested specimen’s classification. If air permeability, coating adhesion or assembly performance matters, request matching evidence separately. The following is a buying checklist, not a statement that HM270 has completed every test.
Buyers generally use mass per square metre as the ordering specification. Typical thickness is about 0.45–0.50 mm as a sampling reference. If the buyer does not specify thickness, do not assume a thickness acceptance limit; agree the measurement conditions, tolerances and decision rules when it is required.
Order specifications and available test records
| Record | Available information | What still needs matching |
|---|---|---|
| HM270 grey catalog specification | 100% polyester, 600D × 600D and 300 g/m² (recorded as 300G in the catalog). | Customer-agreed target mass with a tolerance of ±10 g/m²; match colour, construction and approved sample to the order. |
| SGS burning-test specimen | Black 324 g/m², 0.50 mm FR PU-coated Oxford specimen; VTM-0. | Use for the corresponding specimen and project requirements; this is not whole-duct certification. |
See the VTM-0 report guide for details, and the HM270 product page for material, colour and slitting enquiries.
Keep the sample, order and report traceable
| Check | Record for the HM270 review |
|---|---|
| Sample identity | HM270 code, specimen ID, colour, photographs, sampling date and batch. |
| Construction | The 100% polyester, 600D × 600D catalog reference, plus the coating, treated face and construction required for this order. |
| Dimensions and mass | Usable width: 1.48 m; slit-roll lengths generally 100–120 m. Agree the order target mass with a tolerance of ±10 g/m². Focus on mass per square metre, slit width and roll length; distinguish nominal and measured values. Typical thickness is about 0.45–0.50 mm for reference; agree it separately when required. |
| Test condition | As-received or treated sample, treatment route, direction, conditioning and measurement conditions. |
| Acceptance record | Order specification revision, approved sample, method edition, reported results, agreed tolerances and limits. |
Select HM270 tests from the buying requirements
| Buying requirement | Evidence to request | Method and scope check |
|---|---|---|
| Does mass meet the order specification? | Measured sample mass in g/m², checked against the order target with a tolerance of ±10 g/m². | For coated fabrics, discuss ISO 2286-2:2016 with the laboratory and specify total, coating or substrate mass per area. |
| Does fabric permeability meet the requirement? | Pressure difference, test area, units, measured result and project limit. | ISO 9237:1995 addresses textile air permeability; confirm applicability and range for near-impermeable specimens. |
| Does coating adhesion meet the agreement? | Direction, specimen condition, method conditions and measured result. | Discuss ISO 2411:2024 for coated-fabric adhesion strength; confirm seam strength and flexing separately. |
| Does the burning record apply to the order material? | The corresponding material burning-test report and project requirements. | Match the reported method, specimen and VTM-0 classification to the project; do not extend it to whole-duct certification. |
| Can the finished duct meet the extraction conditions? | Fabricator evidence for the relevant diameter, construction, seams and connectors. | ISO 7233:2021 addresses vacuum resistance of rubber/plastics hoses and assemblies; the laboratory confirms whether the construction is within scope. |
Method references: ISO 2286-2, ISO 9237, ISO 2411 and ISO 7233. Before commissioning tests, confirm method applicability to the sample with the laboratory and agree the tests and acceptance limits for the order.
How can two HM270 sample results be compared?
Match the order target mass, construction and method edition before comparing results. Check mass against the target with a tolerance of ±10 g/m².
For permeability, review pressure difference, test area and units. For adhesion, review direction, specimen arrangement and conditions. Before-and-after comparisons also need matching treatment steps. Agree project limits rather than treating a method name as proof of acceptance.
Put the delivery requirements in the order after sample approval
- Keep the approved sample: record its ID, colour, specification and photographs against the order.
- Define supply requirements: agree mass per square metre, usable or slit width, roll length, quantity, tolerances and packing; agree thickness separately if the buyer requires it.
- Agree inspection: identify tests, methods, conditions, limits, sampling quantities and responsible parties.
- Check batch records: review material, dimensions, test and packing records as agreed at receipt; finished-duct purchases also need fabrication and assembly evidence.
Custom converting: define slit width, paper cores and target GSM
Alongside the selected fabric, specify usable or slit width, dimensional tolerance and edge condition. Paper-core specifications can be customised: confirm inside diameter, length and equipment requirements, together with roll length and winding direction.
Agree target finished weight with the substrate, coating and coated sides. For flame requirements, provide the standard, edition and class. We assess material options against the brief, with performance confirmed for the specific sample and test results. Capability, tolerances and delivery terms are agreed per project.
Copy this converting brief into your enquiry
- Material: substrate, coating, coated sides and target finished weight (g/m²).
- Cutting: usable width or slit width, tolerance and edge condition.
- Roll format: paper-core inside diameter and length, roll length and winding direction.
- Validation: flame standard, edition and required class; identify the sample to be tested.
- Delivery brief: quantity, packing requirements and destination.

Common HM270 acceptance questions
Is mass accepted against the catalog value or the customer’s requirement?
Use the confirmed order target with a tolerance of ±10 g/m². Specify any different target mass during sampling and ordering.
What if the order requires permeability or adhesion results that are unavailable?
Provide the project requirement and confirm the sample, method and test arrangements with Huamao and the laboratory. Keep the property pending until measured evidence is available, without substituting an estimated test value.
Should duct operating conditions be included when buying fabric only?
Yes, they help identify which material properties need evidence. The fabricator still needs to assess pressure, leakage and connection performance of the complete duct.
Check coated-fabric handling against an agreed sample
After adjusting the coating process, our fabric is softer than the earlier version and easier to keep smooth during duct fabrication, helping reduce the effect of creases and surface scuffs on the finished appearance. Agree handling, appearance and flame-retardancy requirements against the approved sample and order acceptance criteria.
Agree the handling sample and the order’s required performance tests separately. A softer feel does not establish a pressure, temperature or flame rating.
